About

The H. W. Cooey Machine & Arms Company was a Canadian firearms manufacturer located in Toronto, Ontario from 1903 until 1929 and Cobourg, Ontario from 1929 to 1979.

In April of 1961, H.W. Cooey Machine and Arms Company Limited was sold to the Olin-Mathieson Ltd. and became a division of Winchester-Western (Canada) Ltd.

Sadly,Production at the Cooey (Winchester) plant ceased in 1979.

In addition to creating firearms for generations of Canadians, the H. W. Cooey Machine & Arms Company was also an active participant in producing arms and various armament items needed during Canada's participation in both World Wars. For some reason, history has chosen to forget many things that this small Canadian arms company has done for the country. Canadians however have not forgotten and continue to use and appreciate Cooey made rifles everyday. This website is a tribute to cooey and its countless enthousiasts.
